CORDING FOOT

*Optional Purchase

This foot is used for gathering, shirring, decorative stitching or
applying trims.

GATHERING

1. Place a single strand of pearl cotton into the center groove.

2. Secure the cord by tying a knot in it, behind the presser

foot.

3. Select a narrow ZigZag stitch, with a medium-long stitch

length. Test sew on a scrap of fabric to ensure that the
ZigZag stitches over the cord, but that it doesn’t stitch into
the cord.

4. Place the fabric under the foot and sew. When stitching is

done, pull the cord, gathering the fabric.

5. Adjust the fullness as desired, then knot the end of the cord

to secure.

APPLYING CORDS OR THIN BRAIDS

1. Place a decorative cord or thin braid into each of the foot’s

grooves.

2. Secure the cords at the back of the foot by tying a knot.

3. Select a decorative stitch, with the stitch width set wide

enough to cover the width of the cords.

EVEN FEED / WALKING FOOT

*Optional Purchase

The Even Feed / Walking Foot has its own set of feed dogs
that work in conjunction with the sewing machine’s feeding
system to aid the movement of the fabric. This is important
when sewing several layers of fabric, especially when quilting.
This presser foot is also great for matching plaids or stripes
and sewing fabrics with nap or pile, to keep them from shifting.

1. Loosen the presser bar screw, then remove the presser bar

screw, presser foot holder and foot.

2. Place the Even Feed / Walking Foot onto the presser bar,

3. Replace the presser bar screw. Once it is correctly seated

onto the presser bar, secure it in place using a screwdriver.

4. To sew seams in plaid, pile or napped fabrics, place two

pieces of the fabric, right sides together, under the presser
foot.

5. Select straight stitch, with a medium stitch length setting.

Lower the presser foot, then sew the seam from top to
bottom.

backing fabric together with pins or basting. Place all layers
of fabric together under the presser foot. Lower the presser
foot, then sew the layers together.

Note: If desired, lines can be drawn onto the fabric
using a fabric marking pen/pencil and ruler as guides
for stitching.
