11.1.2 Optional SOAM Configuration

Optionally, SOAM can be configured to send additional informations about the 9145E NID, using
Sender ID TLVs and/or Port ID TLVs. Sender ID TLVs are optional extensions to SOAM packets,
used to carry identification information about the system that originates a particular packet. The
system may be identified using a textual string or a MAC or IP address associated with the NID.
Details about Sender ID TLV configuration are described in section 11.2

Sender ID TLVs may be included, based on configuration, in CCM, LBM, and LTM packets. The
far end system, upon receiving a packet containing a Sender ID TLV, parses and displays this
information, which better identifies a particular node. The 9145E NID displays the content or the
Sender ID TLVs received from far end system in the Connectivity Check Database (see section
11.6.5).

Port ID TLVs are optionally used for Linktrace reply messages, to identify a particular port on a
given system. Port ID TLVs received from the far end are displayed in the Linktrace monitoring
screen (see section 11.6.6.2).

11.1.3 SOAM Functionality with All-to-One Bundling

All-to-One Bundling provides the ability to map all C-VLANs (including untagged and priority-
tagged frames) to a single S-VLAN. When the All-to-One bundling feature is enabled, one port
(typically the Network port) is declared as an S-Tagged interface. All frames transmitted and
received on this port are double-tagged, based on the encapsulation modes defined in the VLAN
rules. (The exception is untagged frames, received on the User port, which will have one S-Tag
on the Network port if All-to-one Bundling is enabled on the Network port.)

All-to-One Bundling is enabled by configuring data traffic, as described in the section
“Management IP Configuration” on page 10, and when you configure MAs, MEGs, and MEPs,
described in this chapter.
