NOTE:

You can perform system-level configuration before or after you configure

Maintenance Domains or other entities.

4. On the SOAM System Level Configuration screen (Figure 11-8), type 1 and press Enter.

5. Press the Space bar to select Enabled or Disabled and press Enter. If Service OAM procedures

are disabled for the system, no Service OAM packets are captured and processed. Instead, all
Service OAM packets received by the 9145E NID are transparently forwarded, using the same
rules as for data plane traffic.

6. When you are prompted to change SOAM status, type Y and press Enter to save the setting, or

type N to return to the original setting.

7. To select a Chassis ID Format, type 2 and press Enter. Select one of the following settings:

MAC Address, and press Enter. The Chassis ID value is read only. You cannot
change the value on this screen.

• Network Address, and press Enter. The Network Address value is read only. You

cannot change the value on this screen.

• Locally Assigned, and press Enter. This selection allows you to enter a custom

string.
