System Overview
1.1 Description
The Centellis 2000 Shelf - DC shelf is a high availability AdvancedTCA (Advanced Telecom
Computing Architecture) shelf. The PICMG 3.X AdvancedTCA Specifications define components
for high-performance services solutions. It is an architecture for highly-available and scalable
high-speed interconnect technologies.
A high-availability system consists of software and redundant hardware to enable five-nines
(99,999%) uptime. This means that a system is unavailable for no more than 5.26 minutes per
year.
The shelf is always equipped with:
 Dual star backplane with base and fabric interface providing connector interfaces for
power distribution, input/output connectivity between front blades and mechanical
alignment and support
 Up to two Artesyn Embedded Technologies ATCA-MF105 shelf manager and hub boards
Each AdvancedTCA blade and some of the Field Replaceable Units (FRU) provide
connections to the shelf manager through an Intelligent Platform Management Bus
(IPMB).
 Up to two single entry DC Feed Power Entry Modules (PEMs) with 30 A breaker and line
filter
 Front and rear IPMC enabled intelligent fan trays
 Air filters
 Alarm panel with three LEDs
 Two slots which can be equipped with AdvancedTCA blades
 Two slots which can be equipped with Rear Transition Modules (RTMs)
 Two slots which can be equipped with user cards
