Module runs
unstable, hangs or
powers down after
some duration of
operation.

Disregard of
environmental
requirements
Inadequate
airflow

Check that internal system temperature remains within
specified ranges for all system devices. Ensure that the
system configuration you are using is validated for safe
thermal performance.
Check if the Shelf Manager is receiving thermal events (for
example processor throttling or thermal trip events, or
CPU/blade/inlet air temperature exceeding upper non-
recoverable thresholds).
The module also has an autonomous, built-in protection
against potentially catastrophic thermal situations.
Check if the airflow is adequate see

Thermal Requirements

on page 35

.

Module boots BIOS
but cannot load the
Operating System.

Boot order is not
properly
configured.

Check if the target boot device is properly set up in the
BIOS configuration.
BIOS provides options to configure the boot order. For
instance, the user can configure whether the module
should load the OS over Ethernet, or SATA. Refer to

Configuration Settings

on page 63

.

The PCI Express
fabric interface
does not work. A
PCI scan does not
see any device on
this interface.

The PCI Express
link has been
disabled by E-
keying.

Check if the carrier supports a PCI Express link on AMC
ports 4-11. If not, E-keying will disable the PCI Express
link.
Check if multiple root-class PCI Express devices are
present in the system. If present, E-keying will disable all
PCI Express links except one that it is connected to a
primary port of the PCI Express switch on the carrier (if the
carrier has a switched architecture for PCI Express).
