1.1 Functional Outline of the PCLINK Module

The PCLINK-01 module is a communication module with an MP series controller connected to a PCLINK

transmission used as a real-time network in a GL series controller by PCLINK, and a serial port (MEMOBUS port)
capable of remote engineering. This can be used as a controller-level network between the GL series
programmable controller, and an MP2000 series machine controller. A maximum of three modules can be installed
in the option slots of the MP2300 machine controller, and a maximum of eight modules can be installed in the
MP2200 option slots and the MP2100 expansion slots.

There are two types of PCLINK transmissions: link transmission and message transmission. Link transmission

repeatedly performs transmission at each scan according to the necessary assignment definitions. In message
transmission, MEMOBUS messaging and general-purpose messaging (non-procedure) are possible using the
MSG-SND function block and MSG-RCV function block in the ladder program. In addition, MEMOBUS
communication with an upper-level computer (ACGC, etc.) is possible.

In serial transmission, it is possible to use MEMOBUS and programming messages from the upper-level

computer (ACGC, etc.) or MPE720 connected to the serial port connected to the PCLINK.

The PCLINK-01 module was developed in order to ease the replacement of GL controllers with MP controllers.

The staged replacement shown in the figure below ultimately results in a system configuration free of PCLINK
modules. (Because the LAN controllers used in PCLINK are limited in number, it is not possible to maintain the
PCLINK-01 module. The following figure is an example of the replacement.)
