to 365 days. The value for this field is used to determine what files will be included in the old file
count (i.e. those files that do not have a used date within the number of days specified).

Note: It is recommended that the value used be reasonable because depending on the number
of files on the node, if this value is set to a low value (e.g. 10), may result in the SA Host running
longer than normal. Also this may result in exceeding the default capacity of the SA file used to
store this information.

 Index Levels – only the files whose index levels are greater than or equal to the specified value

will be selected for collection. Valid range is 0-255.This is a required field. The default value is
set to 3. The value for this field is used to calculate the number of reloadable files for disks.

The Runtime configuration determines the collection preferences. The user can select the time
when they wish to start collecting data. Furthermore, they can also choose the days for which they
want the collection to occur. If for some reason, the user wants to stop automatic collection, they
can de-select all the days and data will no longer be collected.

The Retention attributes let users choose the disk/volume where they wish to store the collection. It
also lets them specify the number of days for which they wish to retain the data. As data is collected
for a particular day, the

Runlog Calendar

marks the corresponding day in green to indicate that data

exists for that day. If users change the retention period to a number, say ‘x’, which is less than the
days for which data has already been collected, say ‘y’, i.e. x<y then only the last ‘x’ days worth of
data will be retained, the rest will be deleted.

The data is stored in the specified disk’s sub volume which is named using the format –
“SAyymmdd”, as explained above.

If the user decides to change the $Volume specification for the Store Archive then the next
collection would be stored in the new location. However, the old data from the previous location will
still be available.

In Threshold settings, Old Age criteria and Index levels are used to report the Old files and
Reloadable files respectively. Refer to

section 4-2-2-2

for more details about these fields.
