4 Using

Analyzer

This section provides the operational details on the command and control of NonStop Storage Analyzer.

4-1 NonStop Storage Analyzer Activation

Once installed, NonStop Storage Analyzer is automatically started or stopped whenever Web
ViewPoint is started or stopped. When stopped, the SA Collector(s) is also stopped, which means
no storage data will be collected.

4-2 Main Screen

This section provides an explanation of the features of the main screen.

4-2-1 Overview

The main screen displays information about Total disk utilization, utilization per group and utilization
per users belonging to a group. It displays information about individual volumes and summary of
Physical disks usage. Furthermore, it allows users to drill down to a particular disk and gets
information about the files, perform operations on those files. It also displays the information about
partition files and fragmented files. It is also possible to view the data trend via accurate graphs and
charts. The data that is shown is archived over a period of time specified by the user. All the data is
collected and displayed for the current node.

The main screen can be accessed from the Web Viewpoint menu by clicking on the Operations ->
Storage Analyzer as shown below:

4-2-2 Description

The main screen has three tabs, viz. Utilization, Volumes and Summary, in order. By default, the first
tab Utilization is selected. At any point of time, the user can switch back and forth between the tabs.

The display screen is divided into two sections:

 A tree control on the left – A hierarchical format tree, with one resident node at its root.

Hierarchy is resident (or Node) to disk to sub volume. User may click on each branch, which
results in display of information appropriate to that level. Alert icons are displayed at node,
disk, and sub volume level. The tree level can be expanded and collapsed by clicking on the

buttons.
