(2) LPU slots
Both LPUs and LPU slots are purple
edged for easy identification.
No LPUs are shipped with the chassis.
10 LPU slots are available on an S12510-X
AC/S12510-X DC switch.
16 LPU slots are available on an S12516-X
AC/S12516-X DC switch.
Select the model and number of LPUs as
needed. For more information about LPU
specifications, see "Appendix B FRUs and
compatibility matrixes."
You can install an LPU in any empty LPU slot.
(3) Power module
slots
• Located at the lower part of the front
panel.
• Slot numbers are marked above or
below the slots. (In Figure 62 , a
plastic panel is installed in this
section.)
No power modules are shipped with the
chassis.
An S12510-X AC/S12510-X DC switch
provides eight power module slots: PWR1 to
PWR8.
An S12516-X AC/S12516-X DC switch
provides 12 power module slots on two power
distribution boxes. Each box has six power
module slots numbered PWR1 to PWR6.
Every S12500-X switch uses N + N (dual-line
power supply) or N + 1 (one-line power
supply) power redundancy. You can install
appropriate number of power modules
according to the power supply mode and
system consumption.
You can install a power module in any empty
power module slot.
(4) Fan tray slots
• Located at the rear of the switch.
• Installed with fan trays for heat
dissipation.
Fan trays are installed in the chassis before
shipment.
Two fan tray slots are available on an
S12510-X AC/S12510-X DC switch. One fan
tray can fully meet heat dissipation
requirement of the switch. If only one fan tray is
available, install it in slot FAN2.
An S12516-X AC/S12516-X DC switch has
one upper fan tray FAN1 and one lower FAN
tray FAN2. Make sure both fan trays are
installed on the switch and can operate
correctly.
(5) Switching
fabric module slots
Both switching fabric modules and
switching fabric module slots have
silver gray edges for easy
identification.
No switching fabric modules are shipped with
the chassis.
Every S12500-X switch has six switching fabric
module slots and you must install a minimum of
one switching fabric module for the switch.
When you use the LSXM1TGS24FX1 LPU on
the switch, first install the switching fabric
modules in the first three switching fabric
module slots (from top to bottom or from left to
right).
