Important: You must install or turn on IIS BEFORE installing the Intelli-
Track workstation. IIS will only accept connections if it can locate an
active network connection. If your computer does not have a network
adapter, you must install and configure one or IIS will not work. In addi-
tion, if your network card is only active when connected to a network, then
you must connect your network card to a network or to a hub or switch,
even if that hub or switch is not connected to anything else. Please see
your network administrator if you have questions about the network con-
nection status on your computer.

Microsoft
ActiveSync or
Windows
Mobile Device
Center
Software

Depending on your operating system, you will use either Microsoft Active-
Sync or Windows Mobile Device Center Software for PC-handheld device
communication.

Microsoft ActiveSync is used by Windows XP/Windows Server 2003 for
PC and device communication. It must be installed on the same PCs where
the portables will be connected and it must be configured to allow the por-
table to gain access to the network. Before installing the ISRP CE Client
application on the handheld device, make sure that Microsoft ActiveSync
is installed on your PC, a partnership is established between your handheld
device and your computer, and that you are able to synchronize data
between the PC and your handheld device. For more information about
installing ActiveSync on your desktop computer, please refer to

“Installing

Microsoft ActiveSync on your Desktop Computer” on page 21

. For more

information about configuring MicroSoft ActiveSync, please refer to

“Required ActiveSync Setting” on page 22

. For more information about set-

ting up a partnership between your PC and the handheld device, please
refer to

“Setting Up a Partnership” on page 23

.

Windows Mobile Device Center Software and the Microsoft Sync Center
are used with Windows Vista/Windows 7/Windows Server 2008 for device
and PC communication. Make sure that a two-way sync partnership is
established between your PC and your device. Also, make sure that your
device is a sync center supported device that uses Windows Mobile Device
Center software. For more information about Windows Mobile Device
Center Software, please refer to

“Using Windows Mobile Device Center

Software” on page 23
