Serialized Items: When the serial
number feature is enabled in the Sys-
tem Options form/Features tab, the
serial number prompt will appear in
the CE Client application. If item data has not been downloaded, the CE Client
application assumes all items are serialized.
If item data has been downloaded, the serial number
prompt will appear for the pick and receive order func-
tions, the auto pick and auto receive order functions, and
the inventory move and inventory count functions, as fol-
lows:
For the order functions: if the item is serialized, the
quantity entered for the transaction will initiate a serial
number collection process that requires an equivalent
amount of unique serial numbers to be entered for each
item. For a receiving order, this means that an order with
a receive quantity of five requires five serial numbers to
be recorded for the item, one at a time, at a quantity of
one each. You will be prompted to enter each serial num-
ber individually for the item amount. If a duplicate serial
number is scanned, you will be warned and prompted to
enter a unique serial number. If you exit the serial num-
ber collection procedure before the amount of serial num-
bers recorded equals the received or picked quantity, you
will receive a warning telling you that you have not
entered enough serial numbers and asking you if you
want to continue. If you select yes, the transaction will not
be processed at this time, and you will be taken back to
the quantity field for the order, to input a different amount.
For the inventory functions: Physical count of a serial-
ized item: quantity and UOM cannot be edited: the quan-
tity will default to 1 (one) and the unit of measure will
default to the each count. The serial number will be
required.
Physical count of a non-serialized item: the quantity and
unit of measure are not restricted; the serial number
prompt will not display.
Move of serialized item: quantity and UOM cannot be
edited. The quantity will default to (1) one and the unit of
measure (UOM) will default to the each count. The serial
number is required for each item that is being moved.
Move of non-serialized item: the quantity and unit of mea-
sure are not restricted; the serial number prompt will not
display.
