Reaching the Import and Export Options

Importing and exporting inventory data adds a flexibility to the Intelli-
Track Stockroom system and integrates Stockroom with accounting and
spreadsheet software.

All of the importing and exporting functions can be reached from the
Import Command Tab > Import and Export group > Import and Export
options from the ribbon.

Importing Inventory Data

Data import capabilities in IntelliTrack Stockroom system are determined
by the Microsoft Access version being used: a full version vs. a run-time
version.

With the runtime version of Access, only limited import capabilities are
available; item definitions may be imported, but site, location, and
quantity information must be manually assigned (refer to the steps
detailed in the

“Edit Existing/Incomplete Item Data” on page 112

).

With a full version of Microsoft Access and familiarity with importing
functions, you may import an existing inventory database from a vari-
ety of sources, including spreadsheets and databases.

The runtime Access import method works with both versions of Microsoft
Access. Only the runtime Access import method, using Import/Append is
covered in this section. For more information about import methods avail-
able with a full version of Access, please refer to

“Full Access Import” on

page 314

.

Warning: DO NOT IMPORT data that contains special characters or
quotes with the exception of dashes, dots and spaces. Except for dashes,
dots, and spaces, if your data contains special characters or quotes, the
