SECTION 10: POCKET-SITU

TROUBLESHOOTING SOFTWARE CONNECTIONS

DESKTOP COM PORT CONFLICTS

Windows 95 and Windows NT do not support USB. If using a PC with
either of these operating systems, you will need to connect using the 9-pin
serial communication ports on each computer. An optional serial
communications cable will be required.

Note that both Pocket-Situ on the PDA and Win-Situ on the PC will use
the same serial COM ports to communicate with instruments as Microsoft
ActiveSync will be trying to use to communicate between the two
computers. Before attempting serial port communications in Microsoft
ActiveSync make certain that you drop any active connections with
instruments (highlight the connection line in the Navigation Tree and hit
the Drop button) and close both Pocket-Situ (highlight the Home level in
the Navigation Tree and tap the Exit button) on the PDA and Win-Situ on
the PC.
