4.4.10 SNMP Management


The SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) is a Protocol that governs the transfer
of information between management and agent. The switch supports SNMP V1.

You can define management stations as trap managers and to enter SNMP community
strings. You also can define a name, location, and contact person for the switch. Fill in the
system options data, and then click ”Apply” button to update the changes.

(1) System Options
„

Name: Enter a name for the switch.

„

Location: Enter the switch’s physical location.

„

Contact: Enter the name of contact person or organization.

After entering the above information, please click “Apply” button to apply your setting.

(2) Community strings
Serve as a password between trap manager and switch.
„

String: Fill the name of string.

„

RO: Read only. Enable requests accompanied by this string to display MIB-object

information.

„

RW: Read write. Enable requests accompanied by this string to display MIB-object

information and to set MIB objects.

Once entering the above information, please click “Add” button to add your new string. If
you want to remove one string, please click “Remove” button to remove the string.

(3) Trap Manager
A trap manager is a management station that receives traps, the system alerts generated
by the switch. If no trap manager is defined, no traps will issue. Create a trap manager by
entering the IP address of the station and a community string.

IP Address: fill in the trap device IP.

„

Community Strings: the trap device community strings.

After entering the above information, please click “Add” button to add your new Trap
Manager. If you want to remove one Trap Manager, please click “Remove” button to
remove the Trap Manager.
