19. Safety cut-out in an overpressure situation

The LABOROTA 20 control has been designed for distillation under vacuum. All of its gaskets and
seals have been optimzed for this vacuum atmosphere.
In particular situations, i.e. distillation in absence of a vacuum pump (e.g. low boiling substances),
overpressure may build-up in the glassware kit. Please understand that our sealing system has not
been designed for such overpressure situations.
In adverse overpressure situations, solvent may get into the drive module and hence damage
bearings. As a safety precaution, when distilling in absence of vacuum, make sure to keep the
aerating valve and valve (3) of the inlet pipe (2) open (also refer to "SET-UP", Chapter 8 page 74).
Moreover LABOROTA 20 control features an electronic overpressure monitoring circuit;
"Emergency function" will disconnect the item to avoid overpressure damage.
