12 Troubleshooting

WARNING!
• Hazard of electrical shock! Circuit potentials are at 115 VAC or 230 VAC above earth

ground. Avoid direct contact with the printed circuit board or with circuit elements to
prevent the risk of serious injury or fatality. Disconnect incoming power and wait 60
seconds before servicing drive. Capacitors retain charge after power is removed.


Before troubleshooting

Perform the following steps before starting any procedure in this section:

• Disconnect AC or DC voltage input from the SimpleServo. Wait 30 seconds for power to

discharge.

• Check the SimpleServo closely for damaged components.

• Check that no foreign material has become lodged on, or fallen into, the SimpleServo.

• Verify that every connection is correct and in good condition.

• Verify that there are no short circuits or grounded connections.

• Check that the drive’s rated phase current and RMS voltage are consistent with the motor ratings.

Problem External line fuse blows

Possible Cause

Line fuses are the wrong size.

Motor leads or incoming power leads are shorted to ground.

Nuisance tripping caused by EMI noise spikes caused by poor
grounding and/or shielding.


Suggested Solution

Check that line fuses are properly sized for the motor being used.

Check motor cable and incoming power for shorts.

Check that you follow recommendation for shielding and grounding
listed in section “shielding and grounding” early in this manual.
