Align and Mate Meters

Align Meters

Refer to Figure 36
Hoppers have a flange

pre-assembled to their base.

The opening of this flange must be centered over the
meter inlet. In particular, the flange must not obstruct the
vent weldments

in the meter.

There are two ways to assess centering:

A. Have an observer view metering centering from

the top of the hopper (not while inside it).

B. When the meter is raised into contact with the

flange, run a finger around the underside of the
flanges, checking for equal distance from the
flange edge to the outside edge of the foam
gasket

.

Mate Meters

Refer to Figure 37
(which depicts meter raising using a floor jack and block)
92. Raise the meter until the foam gasket

contacts

the hopper flange

.

93. Adjust the front-to-rear meter position until the

meter inlet is centered under the hopper opening.

94. Raise the meter another 1 to 2 cm (0.4 to 0.8in), to

partially compress the gasket

and provide an air-

tight seal.

95. Tighten the six bolts

on the meter mount.
