CAUTION: When handling the riser card, observe normal safety and ESD precautions. (See Appendix A:
Safety Information” for more information.

4.5.1 Removing the Old Riser Card

To replace the riser card:

1. Power down the server and remove all external devices and the power cord(s)

2. Remove the chassis cover. For instructions, see Section 3.2.1“Removing the Chassis Cover”.

3. Remove the front bezel if you will use the ESD ground attachment with your anti-static wrist strap. For

instructions, see Section 3.2.3, “Removing the Front Bezel”.

4. Remove the riser card assembly from the chassis. For instructions, see Section 3.2.5, “Removing the

Riser Card Assembly“.

5. Unfasten the riser card from the bracket by loosening the two 6/32 screws shown in Figure 40.

6. If a PCI add-in adapter card is attached that you want to reuse, remove it and save it for use with the

new riser card.

4.5.2 Installing a new Riser Card

1. Fasten the new riser card to the bracket with the two 6/32 screws as shown in Figure 40.

Torque screws to 8 lbf*in.

At this point the riser card is ready for you to install an add-in card.

Installing a PCI Add-in Card

CAUTION: When handling a PCI add-in card, observe the normal safety and ESD precautions. See
Appendix A: Safety Information for more information.

To install a PCI add-in card, you must first remove the riser card assembly from the server chassis. See
Section 3.2.5, “Removing the Riser Card Assembly” for more information. If you haven’t done so already,
you must also install the riser card in the sheet metal cage.
