5.3.1 Removing the Old Front Panel Board

1. Power down the server and remove all peripheral devices and the power cord(s)

2. Remove the chassis cover. For instructions, see Section 3.2.1, “Removing the Chassis Cover”.

3. Remove the front bezel. For instructions, see Section 3.2.3, “Removing the Front Bezel”.

4. If there is an SD flash card in the SD module slot, remove it and save it for use with the new FP

board.

5. If an eUSB module is installed, remove it from the FP board and save it for use with the new FP

board. For assistance with removing the module, see Section 4.9, “Installing an eUSB Flash Drive”.

6. Disconnect all of the cables connected to the FP board. See Figure 7: Baseboard Components and

Connectors” and Table 5: System Cables” for the cable routing. For the location of each connector on
the FP board, see Figure 52.

Disconnect the SSI front panel board power cable that comes from the power distribution board.

Disconnect the LED/switch board power and signal ribbon cable.

Disconnect the TAM signal cable.

Disconnect the FP signal cable that comes from the baseboard.

Disconnect the USB cable that comes from the baseboard

Disconnect the LED HDD cable that comes from the SAS HDD backplane.

7. Unscrew the two fasteners on the FP board (Figure 53, “A”) and the hex standoff used to support an

eUSB module (“B”).
Slide the board away from the front of the chassis and over the two keyhole standoffs (“C”) to lift it up
and out of the chassis. (“D”).
Save the screws and hex standoff for reuse with the new replacement FP board.
