1. Power down the server and remove all peripheral devices and the power cord(s)

2. Remove the chassis cover. For instructions, see Section 3.2.1“Removing the Chassis Cover”.

3. Remove the riser card assembly from the chassis. For instructions, see Section 3.2.5, “Removing the

Riser Card Assembly”.

4. Turn the riser card assembly upside down so it is resting on the top of the sheet metal cage.

If you are replacing a card in the slot, remove the existing card from the riser card socket.

If you are adding a PCI card, not replacing one, remove the blank filler panel from the rear bracket of
the riser card assembly by loosening the screw at the side of the bracket (Figure 41, “A”).

5. Attach the add-in card to the riser card connector (“B”).

Be sure that the add-in card edge connector is seated in the riser card connector correctly.

6. Fasten the add-in card to the riser card assembly bracket using the screw reserved from removing

the filler panel (“C”).

7. Re-install the riser card assembly into its slot on the baseboard (Figure 42, “A”).

8. Secure the riser card assembly by tightening the captive screws (“B” and “C”).
