Network Parameters:

TS packets per IP packet: This sets the number of 188-byte MPEG-2 transport stream
packets per UDP/IP output packet payload. The default of 7 sets the payload to 1316 bytes,
minimizing the IP packetization overhead. A lower value results in a higher output packet rate.

Use Bandwidth Ceiling: This is an experimental parameter that causes the operating system
(OS) to limit the total outbound Ethernet traffic to 20% over the Stream Bit Rate. (By default,
this feature is disabled and set to No.) Because the Bandwidth Ceiling limits the total
aggregate traffic that the Ethernet port transmits, then accessing the web interface with this
feature enabled can impair the output video stream. Even with this feature disabled, the OS
limits the output bit rate to 40 Mbps, which is sufficient to limit output bursts to a level that most
networks can handle without affecting the video stream, so enabling this lower limit is generally
not necessary..

TOS (Type-of-Service): This sets the TOS byte of the IP packet header. The default is 0.

Send SAP Announcement and SAP Session Name: Session Announcement Protocol or
SAP sends a broadcast packet so that SAP-enabled decoders and viewers (such as Elecard
Player from www.elecard.com) can maintain a list of currently playing video feeds, to allow you
to more easily manage and choose among multiple program feeds. You can supply a short
description of the video feed as the SAP Session Name. This only works for multicast RTP
streams.

Insert Metadata and Metadata UDP Port: Metadata is user-generated data that you can
supply and insert into the MPEG2 Transport Stream. When enabled, the QVPRO will listen for
UDP packets on the specified metadata UDP port and insert the payload of these packets into
the MPEG2 Transport Stream.

Sequence 0xFFFF work around: This is a work-around to overcome a bug in some satellite
systems that might otherwise drop packets with a certain data pattern. If you see unexplained
packet loss at regular interals, then enabling this feature might eliminate that problem.

Optionally output … as a UDP stream: This feature allows you to send a copy of the ARQ
output stream as a local UDP stream. This allows for local monitoring of the encoder’s output,
including as a UDP multicast. You can specify both an independent UDP/IP destination
address and an independent port number for this copy of the output stream.

WARNING: DO NOT ENTER THE SAME IP ADDRESS AS THE

“DESTINATION IP

ADDRESS

”. Doing so will send two conflicting streams to the decoder. PLEASE LEAVE THIS

IP ADDRESS FIELD BLANK UNLESS YOU INTEND TO USE THIS FEATURE.

ProMPEG FEC (optional): For legacy compatibility, the QVPRO can add ProMPEG Forward
Error Correction (Release 3.2, Annex B), part of the SMPTE-2022 standard, to the output
stream as an alternative to ARQ. These settings allow for setting of the FEC parameters.
Because ARQ is feed-back based, it is significantly more effective than FEC.
