Installing a chassis air filter (optional)

Chassis air filters are installed at the air intake vents to prevent dust from entering the chassis. Chassis air
filters of the S12500 switches are optional. You can order them as needed.
If you have ordered chassis air filters, H3C recommends you to install the air filters before mounting the

switch to the rack.

S12508—A chassis air filter is available at both front and rear of the switch. For the installation
procedures, see "

S12518—The air filter is located at the rear of the chassis. For the installation procedures, see

Installing an air filter on an S12508

To install the front air filter on an S12508:

1.

Holding the notches of the front plastic panel at the bottom part of the chassis, and gently pull the
plastic panel out.

2.

Unpack the air filter and attach it to rear of the plastic panel, making sure the installation holes on
the air filter align with the screw holes on the plastic panel. Then attach the air filter to the plastic

panel with screws.

3.

Attach the plastic panel back to the chassis.

To install the rear air filter on an S12508:

1.

Loosen the captive screws on the ventilation panel and remove it.

2.

Unpack the air filter and attach it to where the ventilation panel was located, and then fasten the
captive screws on the air filter.
