3. MISCELLANEOUS FAULTS

The display stays blank when the unit is powered up.

Check that the mains cord is properly plugged in and check the mains socket.

The fax machine fails to detect the document you have inserted. The “READY” message is not displayed.

The display shows “REMOVE DOCUMENT” just before or during scanning and the ON indicator is red.

Remove the document or press STOP.

Check that the document is not too thick (30 sheets of 80 g/m

2

paper).

Split the document up if required.

Ensure the document stack is properly fed in.

The fax machine does not receive faxes

If the FAX icon is off and the TEL icon is on, this means that the receive mode parameter is set to MANUAL. Set it to
FAX (see the SETTINGS chapter).

Check that the telephone cable is properly plugged in and that there is a dial tone on the line.

If the fax icon is flashing, this means that the fax machine’s memory is full. If the machine is configured in fax answer
mode, print out the documents in its memory (Menu 4, 1).

You receive a blank page

Try making a local copy. If this comes through OK, your fax machine is functioning properly. Contact the sender of the
fax, and find out whether they fed the document in the wrong way round.

You cannot send out faxes

Check the telephone cable.

Check the dial tone on the line by pressing the LINE key.

Check the DIALLING parameter (see the SETTINGS chapter).
