The following example provides step by step instructions for configuring the Total Access 6XX T1 ATM
system (
I NTERFACES
and L2 P ROTOCOL
) for a standard voice application. System Info and System Config
parameters should be set according to your system need. Refer to System Info on page 49 and System
Config on page 51 for more details.
1. Setting up the Interfaces

T1 Interface Setup Instructions
Step Action
1 From the main menu, select I NTERFACES .
2 Highlight the C ONFIG menu for the T1 interface and press <E NTER >.
3 Right arrow to select F ORMAT and choose ESF or SF.
This format must match the format used by the other units in the
network.
4 Set the L INE C ODE to B8ZS or AMI.
This line code must match the line code used by the other units in the
network.

Set the E QUALIZATION or line build out. The default setting of 0 D B is
usually sufficient.

Set the CSU L PBK option to E NABLE , D ISABLE , or D ISABLE A LL based on
whether looping to this unit from another unit will be allowed.
