Calibration

Note

While the functionality remains the same for a standard 420 digital weight indicator, there are certain menu
choices that need to be changed in the manual that are specific to the proper functioning of the CLS-Series
Cargo Lift Scale which include Calibration, Serial, Program, and Print Format.

The CLS-420 indicator can be calibrated using the front panel calibration procedure as explained in Section

6.1.

This method consists of the following steps:

Zeroing the scale inclinometer

Zero calibration

Entering the test weight value

Calibration of cell #1

Calibration of cell #2

The following sections describe the calibration procedure for each of the calibration methods.

6.1

Front Panel Calibration

To calibrate the indicator, the forklift tines must be in place as test weights are placed upon them.

Note

Use a level to ensure that the forklift tines are level prior to calibration.

The test weight used to calibrate the CLS-420 cannot be greater than 2500 lbs.

To calibrate the indicator using the front panel, do the following:

1. Place the 420 indicator in setup mode (display reads

CONFIG

).

2. Press until the display reads

CALIBR

(see Figure

6-1).

3. Use a level to level the forklift tines before pressing to go to

ANGLEZ

.

4. With

ANGLEZ

displayed and no weight on the forklift, press

to zero the scale inclinometer.

-CAL-

is

briefly displayed on the indicator.

5. With

CMZERO

displayed press

to capture the lead load zero.

-CAL-

is displayed briefly on the indicator.

6. The indicator then asks for the

WVAL

(weight value). Enter the weight of the test weight to be used in the

calibration procedure by pressing the enter key

and then keying in the weight value using the numeric

keypad. Then press enter again.

7.

CMCEL1

is displayed.

8. Put the test weight on the left tine of the forklift

is briefly displayed.

9. Once

-CAL-

is displayed, the indicator display automatically jumps to

CMCEL2

. Move test weight to the

other tine. Press

. If the display says

PASS

, it is followed by

CALIBR

and the

calibration procedure is complete.

11. If the display says

-FAIL-

, then the display goes back to

CMZERO

and the calibration procedure must be

started over.
