MLD snooping proxying configuration example

Network requirements

As shown in

Figure 16

, Router A connects to an IPv6 multicast source through port Ethernet 1/2, and to

AC through port Ethernet 1/1. Router A runs MLDv1 and AC runs MLDv1 snooping. Router A serves as

an MLD querier.
Configure MLD snooping proxying on AC so that AC can forward MLD reports and done messages on

behalf of attached hosts, respond to MLD queries from Router A, and forward the queries to the hosts on

behalf of Router A.

Configuration procedure

1.

Configure an IP address and subnet mask for each interface as per

Figure 16

. (Details not shown.)

2.

On Router A, enable IP multicast routing, enable MLD on Ethernet 1/1, and enable IPv6 PIM-DM
on each interface.

[RouterA] multicast ipv6 routing-enable

[RouterA] interface ethernet 1/1

[RouterA-Ethernet1/1] mld enable

[RouterA-Ethernet1/1] pim ipv6 dm

[RouterA-Ethernet1/1] quit

[RouterA] interface ethernet 1/2

[RouterA-Ethernet1/2] pim ipv6 dm

[RouterA-Ethernet1/2] quit

3.

Configure AC:

NOTE:

Ethernet interface configuration may vary with device models. For detailed information about Ethernet
interface configuration of different device models, see "Configure the wireless client to join the multicast

group" in the above configuration examples.

# Enable MLD snooping globally.
