KEPServerEX5 Help

invoked by a client application. If the server were to shut down without warning, those changes could be lost. To
prevent this from occurring, the server has provided exit options. The exit options allow the exit strategy of the server
to be tailored to the application. See Also:

OPC Settings Options

.

There are four exit strategies.

1. Ask to save (with timeout) presents a save project dialog to the operator. The operator, if present, can decide

whether or not to save the changes. If the operator is not present, the option to save the project changes will
expire after the time specified by the Timeout parameter (which has a range of 3 to 30 seconds). If the operator
does not respond within the timeout period, the project changes will be lost and the server will complete its exit.

2. Auto-save (if possible) automatically saves any changes made to the project if a project file has already been

established. With this method, the operator will not be prompted to save changes.

3. Discard changes allows the server to exit the project and lose any changes that have been made.

4. Keep running prevents the server from automatically shutting down if changes have been made to the project.

Runtime Connection

As a result of separating the Configuration from the server Runtime and Remote Connections, users must set how
connections to the Runtime are managed.

Descriptions of the parameters are as follows.

Runtime User settings ensure that when Show user login is checked, a valid user name and password will be
required before the Configuration can be connected to the Runtime for project editing.

Port Number is used to specify the TCP/IP Port that will be used to connect to and communicate with the
Runtime.

Note: If a firewall has been enabled on the PC, users will need to add this Port as an exception.
