The Setpoint source is automatically defined by the Modelcode . It can be configured to be Digital (FoxCom-Digital) or Analog

(Intelligent w/o communication or HART) .

9 . The Split Range can only be configured for analog devices . In this case, define the two thresholds for the split-range

applications, the High and the Low limits for the input signal .

ONLY for SRD991-FoxCom before HW-rev. 3.0

THE INTELLIGENT POSITIONER SRD991 BEFORE HW-REV. 3.0 COULD BE USED EITHER IN ANALOG OR DIGITAL MODE.

EACH MODE REQUIRES AN INDIVIDUAL JUMPER SELECTION ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE CIRCUIT BOARD. REFER TO

THE POSITIONER USER MANUAL FOR THE CORRECT JUMPER LOCATION FOR ANALOG OR DIGITAL MODE. WHEN THE

BOARD IS IN ANALOG MODE, IT CAN NO LONGER BE CONNECTED TO A VOLTAGE SOURCE, ONLY TO A CURRENT SOURCE

(4…20 MA); IN DIGITAL MODE, THE POSITIONER WILL NOT REACT TO A 4…20 MA SETPOINT CHANGE. IF THIS WARNING

IS NOT OBSERVED, THE ELECTRONIC BOARD WILL BE PERMANENTLY DAMAGED.

FoxCom (before HW-Rev. 3.0)

FoxCom positioner, Model code "-xFxx" (factory-configured to digital) or –xExx (factory-configured to analog):
The analog/digital jumper controls the input signal requirements . It may be configured by the user, if needed . Removal of the

circuit is required to inspect visually and change the jumper location . It must be noted that reconfiguring the jumper location

will not update the model code displayed in the tag screen . In analog mode, the power source must be a current source of

4…20 mA with a compliance voltage of at least 12 .5V DC .
How to tell if device is configured for analog or digital mode (without visual inspection):
1 . Disconnect positioner from all external wiring .
2 . Connect a current limited variable voltage source to the input terminals (#11 positive, #12 negative) .
3 . Set voltage and current to zero before turning power on .
4 . Turn power on and increase voltage to 12 .5 volts .
5 . Slowly increase current limit to 20 mA . If actual current is limited to about 9 mA by the positioner, then the jumper is

configured to DIGITAL . If the current is 20 mA, the jumper is set for ANALOG input signal .

For a device jumper configured to DIGITAL

In digital mode, the power supply must be a voltage source ranging from 12 .5…32V DC with a current capacity of at least 9

mA . Do not connect to a current source with compliance voltage exceeding 32V DC . If the instrument jumper is configured to

digital mode, never configure the software selected setpoint source to ANALOG .
For a device jumper configured to ANALOG: (not after HW-Rev 3.0)

The setpoint source should be set to Analog for normal operation . For maintenance functions or special requirements,

the analog setpoint can be overwritten by setting the setpoint source to digital to position the valve using a digital

communication device such as the Intelligent Field Device Configurator . The positioner will only accept digital setpoint

commands from the configurator .
