Corrective action

Error

Ensure that the problem is not caused by the management
station or Ethernet hardware or software, and restart the
management station. Restarting the XP Command View
Advanced Edition Software management station does not
affect XP Continuous Access Journal operations in progress.

Ensure that all XP Continuous Access Journal requirements
and restrictions are met. See

XP Continuous Access Journal

operations requirements and restrictions

.

Ensure that the primary array, secondary array, and remote
copy connections are powered on, and NVS and cache
are fully operational.

Check all entered values and parameters to ensure you
entered the correct information on the XP Command View
Advanced Edition Software management station (for
example, secondary array S/N, path parameters, primary
data volume IDs, and secondary data volume IDs).

Ensure you are not using Auto LUN/Performance Control
Base Monitor.

The XP Command View Advanced Edition Software
management station hangs, or XP Continuous Access
Journal operations do not function properly.

Call you HP account support representative for assistance.

An initiator or RCP channel-enable LED indicator (on the
XP Command View Advanced Edition Software control
pane) is off or flashing.

Check whether you selected correct items or options in XP
Continuous Access Journal panes, such as the DKC
Operation pane, Pair Operation pane, and Display Filter
pane.

Status of pairs and/or logical paths is not displayed
correctly.

Remove the error cause, and retry the XP Continuous Access
Journal operation.

An XP Continuous Access Journal error message is
displayed on the XP Command View Advanced Edition
Software management station.

Check the path status in the DKC Status pane, and see

Table 54 (page 196)

.

The status of a logical path is not normal.

Check the pair status in the Pairdisplay pane, and see

Table 55 (page 198)

.

The pair status is suspended.

If the timeout error was caused by a hardware failure, a
SIM is generated. If this occurs, call you HP account support
representative, and retry XP Continuous Access Journal
operations after the problem is solved.

If no SIM was generated, wait for 5 or 6 minutes, and
check the pair status of the pairs being created or resumed.
If the pair status changed correctly, the failed operation
completed after the timeout message was issued. If the pair
status did not change as expected, a heavy workload might
have prevented the XP Continuous Access Journal operation
from completing. In this case, retry the XP Continuous
Access Journal operation when the array has a lighter
workload.

If a communications error occurs between the XP Command
View Advanced Edition Software management station and
the SVP, see the HP StorageWorks XP Command View
user guide for XP Disk Arrays
for instructions.

Paircreate or pairresync operation resulted in a timeout
error.

See

Pinned track recovery for XP Continuous Access Journal

volumes

for instructions.

There is a pinned track on an XP Continuous Access Journal
volume.
