Description

Item

VOL: Identifies the volumes in the local storage system.

A device ID ending in # (for example, 00:00:3C #)
indicates the LDEV is an external volume. For details on
an external volume, see the HP StorageWorks
XP24000/XP20000 External Storage Software User
Guide
.

A device ID ending in X (for example, 00:00:3C X)
indicates the LDEV is an XP Thin Provisioning virtual
volume. For details on a virtual volume, see the HP
StorageWorks XP24000/XP20000 Thin Provisioning
Software User Guide
.

To the right of the icon appears information about an
LU path (see

“Information in the VOL Column in the Pair

Operation Window” (page 129)

), which is a path from

hosts to the volume.

The icons are:

This volume is not paired with any other volume.

This volume is neither a primary data volume nor a
secondary data volume.

This is a primary data volume.

This is a secondary data volume.

Status: Indicates the status of volume pairs.

SMPL: The volume is not currently assigned to a pair.

When the initial copy is started by a paircreate
operation, the volume status changes to COPY.

COPY: The initial copy operation is in progress. Data

in the primary data volume is not synchronized with
data in the secondary data volume. When the initial
copy is complete, the status changes to PAIR.

PAIR: The volume is paired with

another volume. The two volumes are
fully synchronized. All updates from the
host to the primary data volume are
duplicated at the secondary data
volume.

PSUS: The pair has been split by the

user (pairsplit-r), or the pair has been
released by the user from the secondary
storage system (pairsplit-S). The primary
data volume and the secondary data
volume are not synchronized.

PSUE: The pair has been split by the

primary storage system or the secondary
storage system due to an error or a
failure. The primary data volume and
the secondary data volume are not
synchronized.

Suspending: The primary data

volume and the secondary data volume
are not synchronized. This pair is in
transition from the PAIR or COPY status
to the PSUS/PSUE status.
