Access Journal secondary sites are combined, you can create a XP Continuous Access Journal pair
for delta resync operation. If you create a XP Continuous Access Journal pair for delta resync
operation, you can restart your business tasks by duplicating volumes in a short time without a
long disaster recovery operation that copies all volumes in the site.
The following figure shows a 3DC multi-target configuration where three XP Continuous Access
Journal sites are combined. In this configuration, there are three sites as follows:
•
XP Continuous Access Journal primary site
•
XP Continuous Access Journal secondary site whose mirror ID is M (arbitrary number)
•
XP Continuous Access Journal secondary site whose mirror ID is N (arbitrary number)

The data in the primary data volume is written to the secondary data volume asynchronously with
writing from the host. Therefore even if there is a long distance between the XP Continuous Access
Journal primary site and the XP Continuous Access Journal secondary site, the performance of
response to the host is maintained.
Setup Procedure
This section explains the procedure for setting up a 3DC multi-target configuration using three XP
Continuous Access Journal sites.
To set up a 3DC multi-target configuration, complete the following procedure. If you operate XP
Continuous Access Journal pairs, use RAID Manager in this procedure:
1.
Install XP Continuous Access Journal and configure ports.
2. In the XP Continuous Access Journal primary storage system and the secondary storage system,
set the system option mode 767 to ON. The mode must be set to ON for storage systems in
ALL three sites.
3. Configure the XP Continuous Access Journal journal groups. Journal groups must be configured
for storage systems in three sites.
4. Create an XP Continuous Access Journal pair of the first mirror in the primary site. When
creating an XP Continuous Access Journal pair, make sure to select a value from 0 to 3 as the
mirror ID.
5. Wait until the status of the XP Continuous Access Journal pair becomes PAIR.
