The Assign Remote Command Device window displays the following settings. Using the Assign
Remote Command Device window, you can assign two remote command devices to two mirrors
in one operation:

Mirror ID: Selects mirror ID. To assign the remote command device to the mirror of XP
Continuous Access synchronous pair in the 3DC multi-target configuration, specify 00 as the
mirror ID. To assign the remote command device to only one mirror ID, select Not set in mirror
2. However, the same mirror ID cannot be specified to mirror 1 and mirror 2 in the dialog
box.

Remote Command Device: Selects remote command devices to be assigned to the mirrors. If
a remote command device is not used, select Not use.

Set: Applies the settings in the window to the Journal Operation window (

“Journal Operation

Window” (page 116)

).

Cancel: Cancels the settings and closes the window.

Releasing Assigned Remote Command Device

To release a remote command device assigned to a mirror, follow the procedure described below.
Perform this operation for one mirror at a time.
1.

Ensure that the Remote Web Console main window is in Modify mode. For detailed information
about how to do this, see the HP StorageWorks XP24000/XP20000 Remote Web Console
User Guide
.

2.

Ensure that the Journal Operation window is open (see

“Journal Operation Window”

(page 116)

).

3.

In the tree, select a master journal group or a restore journal group from below Registered.

4.

From the mirrors, select and right-click the mirror that you want to release the assigned remote
command device.

5.

Select JNL Group,Release R-Cmd. Dev in the pop-up menu.

6.

See the Preview list to check the settings that you have made.

To cancel a setting, select and right-click the setting and then click Delete.

7.

Click Apply to release the remote command device from the mirror.

See the list in the Journal Operation window whether the remote command device is released
from the mirror or not. If the remote command device is not assigned, the column of the remote
command device is blank.

If an error occurs, the error code appears in the right-most column of the Preview list. To view
detailed information about the error, right-click the error code and select Error Detail.
