Restrictions about 3DC cascading configuration

This section provides important information need for setting the system option mode 767 to on,
building a 3DC cascading configuration, and using XP Continuous Access Journal pairs.

Setting of the system option mode 767

The system option mode 767 can register two mirrors on a journal group (the default setting is
OFF). After the journal group has been registered, the mode 767 setting is always applied and
can only be changed by deleting the journal group, changing the setting, and then register the
journal group again with the new setting.

NOTE:

The system option mode 767 and the system option mode 707 cannot be enabled at a

time. Set the system option mode 707 to OFF before registering the journal group. However, you
will not be able to register a new journal group for the 2DC configuration of Continuous Access
if you set system option mode 707 to OFF.

Notes on XP Continuous Access Journal pair operations

Up to 4096 pairs can be registered in one mirror.

Virtual volumes of XP Thin Provisioning cannot be used as primary data volumes and secondary
data volumes.

LUSE volumes cannot be used as primary data volumes and secondary data volumes.

When creating a XP Continuous Access Journal pair between the intermediate site and the
secondary site, if the secondary data volume of the XP Continuous Access Journal pair between
the primary site and the intermediate site is in COPY status, the XP Continuous Access Journal
pair cannot be created.
