Select Subsystem in the tree.

The list shows storage system options (see

Figure 66 (page 146)

).

Do one of the following:

Right-click Subsystem in the tree, and then select Change System Option.

Right-click information in the list and select Change System Option.

), change the storage system options.

Click Set.

See the Preview list to verify the changes that you have made.

To modify a change, right-click the change, and then select Modify. A window opens
and allows you to modify the change.

To cancel a change, right-click the change, and then select Cancel.

Click Apply to apply the changes. If an error occurs, the error code appears in the right most
column of the Preview list. To view detailed information about the error, right-click the error
code and select Error Detail.

Activities: The number of volumes that can be copied concurrently during the initial copy and
resynchronization operations.

Maximum Initial Copy Activities: Specify the number of volumes that can be copied concurrently
during the initial copy and resynchronization operations. A value within the range of 1 to
128 can be specified. The default setting is 64 volumes.

Maximum Initial Copy Activities can impact the performance of the primary storage system,
depending on the amount of I/O activity and the number of pairs being registered at the same
time. For example, if you set the maximum initial copy activities to 64 volumes and then add
65 pairs at the same time, the primary storage system starts the first 64 pairs and does not
start the 65th pair until one of the other pairs is synchronized. When you change the Maximum
Initial Copy Activities setting, the new setting applies to pairs created after the setting was
changed, not to existing pairs.
