4 Enter the EchoLink memory name.

• Enter the callsign of the target station that you want to call via EchoLink and the name of the conference or the control

command. Conference rooms allow you to have roundtable QSOs.

5 Press the Tuning Control.

• The code input screen will appear.

6 Enter the EchoLink code.

• Enter the target station that you want to call via EchoLink and the node number of the conference or the DTMF code, such as a

control command.

Transmitting with an EchoLink Memory

1 Press the PTT switch to transmit.
2 Press the Tuning Control while transmitting.

• The transceiver enters the EchoLink memory channel selection mode.

3 Turn the Tuning Control while the PTT switch is pressed to select the EchoLink memory channel on which you want

to transmit.

4 Press the Tuning Control while the PTT switch is pressed.

• Until transmission of the EchoLink code ends, the transceiver remains in transmit mode even if you stop pressing the PTT

switch.

Useful Tips:

• In Step 2 above, if before pressing the Tuning Control, the [C] key on the microphone is pressed, then the DTMF code for the

EchoLink “Connect by Call” function is transmitted.
For example, in the case of JA1YKX: “C” “51 21 10 93 52 92 #” (“#” will be added at the end automatically).

• In Step 2 above, if before pressing the Tuning Control, the [0] and [7] keys on the microphone are pressed, then the DTMF

code for the EchoLink “Query by Call” function is transmitted.
For example, in the case of JA1YKX: “0” “7” “51 21 10 93 52 92 #” (“#” will be added at the end automatically).

• When only the EchoLink memory name is stored, the DTMF code for the EchoLink “Connect by Call” function is transmitted.

For example, in the case of JA1YKX: “C 51 21 10 93 52 92 #” (“C” will be added at the beginning and “#” will be added at the

end automatically).

Note:

◆ When converting a callsign to a DTMF code, when a character is encountered other than the alphanumeric characters in

Table 8‑1, such as “‑”, “/”, etc., the DTMF conversion halts at the letter prior to the character not found in the table.

• Speed of DTMF transmission from an EchoLink memory can be changed between FAST and SLOW using Menu 520. The

default is FAST. When a node does not decode your DTMF signal correctly, configure the SLOW setting to increase chances

of the node correctly decoding your DTMF signal.
