6.3 SQS-242 Comm Program
SQS-242 Comm, found on the SQS-242 CDROM, is a simple Windows program to
demonstrate SQS-242 computer interfacing concepts. With SQS-242 Comm you can
easily send commands to, and read the responses returned by, the SQS-242 program.
SQS-242 Comm is written in Visual Basic, and the source code is included as an
example of programming concepts for computer interfacing.
Make an RS-232 or Ethernet connection from the host computer to the SID-242. Start
the SQS-242 program on the SID-242 controller, and setup the RS-232 or Ethernet
settings as detailed above. Leave the Edit, System, Comm tab displayed.
Run the Setup program for SQS-242 to install it on the host computer. Start SQS-242
Comm, then select the Utility tab. Set the Comm Port and Baud Rate for the host
computer, or select Ethernet and set the Ethernet Port (typically 1001). Click the
Version button under the SID-242 Controller heading. Click Send to send the query to
the SQS-242 program.
The query string should show in the SQS-242 Monitor Receive Data, and the response
in Transmit Data. The response should also show on the SerialComm Response
