RAID Battery

The information in this section applies only to systems with the optional

PERC controller card.

Removing a RAID Battery

CAUTION:

Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician.

You should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in
your product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service
and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not
covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came
with the product.

1 Pull back gently on the right edge of the battery bay and draw out the

RAID battery from the battery carrier.

2 Disconnect the cable between the RAID battery and the storage controller

card. See Figure 3-19.

Installing a RAID Battery

1 Connect the battery cable to the connector on the battery.
2 Locate the battery bay on top of the hard drive bays. See Figure 3-1.
3 With the cable oriented toward the back, angle the left side of the RAID

battery into the left side of the battery bay. See Figure 3-19.

4 Rotate the right side of the battery down and press into the locked position.
5 If not already done, route the battery cable through the right chassis wall.

6 Connect the battery cable to the battery connector on the storage

controller. See Figure 3-17.
