6. Connect the fan cable to the connector on the SFP board.

3.5.3

Replacing the SAS Front Panel Board

The SAS Front Panel (SFP) board provides an interface to the controls at the front of

the system, the power interconnect for the server board, the USB2 and Serial B

interface, and the front panel LED interface connections. It also houses the optional

hardware RAID5 components and optional SMART Embedded USB Solid-State Drive.

Caution:

When handling this board, observe safety and ESD precautions. (See

Appendix A,

“Safety Information”

for more information.)

To replace the SFP board, the following components must be removed:

• All cable connections on the SFP board and selected connections from other board

components

• PCI fan assembly and air duct
• CPU four-fan assembly and air duct
• LED light pipes to the front panel

Caution:

Before replacing any of the TIGW1U server boards, you must first take the server out of

service, turn off all peripheral devices connected to the system, turn off the system by

pressing the power button, and unplug the power cord from the system or wall outlet.

3.5.3.1

Removing the SAS Front Panel (SFP) Board

1. Power down the server system and unplug all peripheral devices and the power

cable.

2. Remove the chassis cover.
3. Remove the PCI fan assembly, including the bracket and air duct.
4. Remove the CPU four-fan assembly, including the bracket and air duct.
