4-3

Slots containing DIDCSU modules display an A at the
intersection of rows and columns designating the shelf/slot
location of any DIDCSU module in the node.

The letter surrounded by brackets (

[ ]

) indicates the location

of the module that is referenced and modified via submenus
of the Main Menu.

On initial log in, brackets surround the module being used as
the log-in access point.

The option S (shelf/slot) is used to move the terminal window
focus to a desired module in the node.

In

Figure 4-1

, the Main Menu shows a DIDCSU 2912 (designated by

A) in slot 2. The currently selected module is indicated by the
square brackets ([ ]). A different module is selected using the
S) shelf/slot command. The asterisk next to the N indicates the
NCM 2000 is the shelf controller. In the absence of an NCM 2000
module one of the DIDCSU modules will become the shelf
controller.

The NCM 2000 is the module responsible for:

Collecting alarm information for all modules in the node.

Controlling the relay responsible for reflecting the node’s
alarm status. (The relay is activated if any module has a major
or critical alarm indication. See the

NCM 2000 User Manual

.)

Maintaining a database of circuits.
