5.2 Setting up a connection to the encoder

Connect the encoder to the test unit with an adapter cable.
8 Double-click "Connect encoder" in the ATS main menu.
The "Encoder selection" window offers two possibilities of powering the encoder and setting the
encoder interface:

1 Automatic encoder identification by entering the ID of the encoder (mandatory for absolute
encoders)
2 The manual settings are only used, if no encoder ID is available (ID plate missing or illegible;
encoder not in the ATS encoder database).
