When it is time to perform a resynchronization between the primary and secondary remote-copy
groups, HP 3PAR Remote Copy creates snapshots as described in

Figure 38 (page 124)

When the asynchronous periodic volume groups are synchronized again (either automatically
according to schedule, or manually by using the syncrcopy command), the system performs
a resynchronization, unless the administrator explicitly forces a full synchronization.

Full Synchronization

Remote copy performs a full synchronization if:

The primary volume was never successfully synchronized, or

No valid resynchronization snapshot exists (the resynchronization snapshot has become stale
or otherwise invalid), or

A full synchronization is explicitly forced by the administrator.

When performing a full synchronization (

Figure 39 (page 125)

), HP 3PAR Remote Copy:

1.

Takes a snapshot of all the data in the primary volume.

2.

Transmits the snapshot to the secondary volume.

3.

Completes synchronization.
