1.

Set the local switch port to full duplex, if possible.

To change the switch port settings, refer to your switch manufacturer’s documentation.

2.

To set the storage system port duplex and speed setting, issue the following command:

# controlport rcip speed <value> full <N:S:P>

where:

<value>

—Network speed.

If you are able to change the local switch port, specify the maximum supported speed
of your network. HP recommends a value of 1000 Mbps.

If you are using unmanaged switches or are unable to change the local switch port
settings, set the system GigE ports to match the local switch port settings.

Distribution of Host Writes over RCIP GigE Links

When copying data from the primary system to the backup system, HP 3PAR Remote Copy uses
all the RCIP GigE links simultaneously in order to achieve the maximum throughput (MBps) possible.
A single host write I/O is sent on a single link, but different I/Os can be sent on different links:

If host writes come in on a node configured with remote-copy GigE links, HP 3PAR Remote
Copy attempts to use the local GigE link to send the data to the backup system.

If host writes come in on a node that is not configured with nonlocal remote-copy GigE links,
HP 3PAR Remote Copy distributes the data among the nodes containing GigE links configured
for remote-copy in order to send the data to the backup system.

Depending on how the host writes to the nodes are distributed, the RCIP GigE links might not
always have the same traffic rate.
