Verifying That Virtual Volumes Are Created for M-to-N Remote Copy

1.

Before you create volume groups, make sure that the virtual volumes exist on the primary
storage system. The volumes can be created automatically on the target array.

For more information, see

“Automatically Creating Target Volumes on the Secondary

System” (page 154)

.

2.

If volumes don’t yet exist, create them using the standard volume-creation commands. For
more information about these commands, see the HP 3PAR Command Line Interface
Administrator’s Manual
.

3.

Ensure that the virtual volumes meant for remote copy adhere to the rules for remote-copy
virtual volumes.

For more information, see

“Creating Remote-Copy Virtual Volumes” (page 105)

.

Creating Volume Groups for M-to-N Remote Copy

Remote-copy volume groups are pairs of virtual volume sets that are logically related and that are
used when data needs to be consistent between specified sets of virtual volumes. For more
information, see

“Working with Volume Groups” (page 110)

.

NOTE:

You can create groups and add volumes to groups without disrupting host access to

volumes.
