Path Status

The access attribute of the volume may have been changed
by Data Retention Utility. Check the access attribute of the
volume. If the volume is protected by the access attribute,
release the protection.

There is a problem with connection to the external
subsystem. The following are possible causes:

Cannot detect port

The fibre cable is not physically connected in the proper
way.

The setting of the topology does not match between the
external port and the target port.

If the external subsystem is connected through switches,
the settings for the switches may not be appropriate.

Check if the fibre cable is connected properly, and then
set the fibre channel port properly using LUN Manager.

e LUN security may have been enabled by LUN Manager.

Check if the LUN security is enabled or not. If the LUN
security is enabled, disable the LUN security.

Connecting XP24000/XP20000 Disk Arrays

When you connect an XP24000 Disk Array or XP20000 Disk Array as the external array, you
need to set the port to the host group for the Windows hosts (host mode 0C: Windows, host mode
2C: Windows Extension). Also, the port attribute must be the target port or the RCU target port.

Path status and examples of recovery procedure (for XP24000/XP20000 Disk Arrays)

Table 21 (page 150)

shows the examples of the recovery procedure when the path status is not

normal. When the path status is not normal, see

“Troubleshooting External Storage XP” (page 134)

and this table to recover the path status. If you cannot restore the path, call technical support.

use XP External Storage Software to perform the Delete Volume operation and perform
the Add Volume operation again.
