Maximum capacity of an external LU

If you specify an external LU that is larger than 2 TB, you
can only access data stored in the field up to 2 TB.

About 38 MB (77,760 blocks) per external LU
(non-OPEN-V)

Minimum capacity of an external LU

When the volume's emulation type is OPEN-V, minimum
capacity is about 47 MB (96,000 blocks) per external LU.

Installing XP External Storage

To perform XP External Storage operations with XP Command View Advanced Edition Software
or Remote Web Console, you must install an XP External Storage license key.
1.

Start XP Command View Advanced Edition Software or Remote Web Console for the local
array.

2.

Enable the XP External Storage options in XP Command View Advanced Edition Software or
Remote Web Console and on each XP External Storage array.

Preparing for XP External Storage settings

Before using XP External Storage, collect the information necessary for defining its settings. The
following information is required:

Ports that can be set to external ports (see

“External ports” (page 17)

External array and LUs to map to the internal LDEVs (see

“External LU to be mapped” (page 17)

)

Configuration of external LU groups (see

“External LU groups” (page 17)

)

Configuration of external LU attributes (see
