Relational - Pre-Login - Branding

Relational (or Pre-Login) Branding

Relational branding is the branding site visitors see when they first login to a web page (i.e., the login
page). Site branding (or storefront customization) in Digital StoreFront is associated with the company a
user is a member of, but a company is not invoked until a user logs in (because a users login profile is
associated with a company). So if you want to apply your custom branding to your sites pre-login
homepage, you will need to follow the steps listed below to create a login path with a pointer to the
company whose branding you want users to see.

What is pre-login branding for?

When should you use it?

Branding the pre-login page (the first page)
visitors to your site see when accessing your
web site.

So that web visitors to your site see a
custom-branded company site (i.e., with your
logo and banner) even before they login.
Otherwise, they will see the default branding
for the site rather than, say, a branding
tailored to a specific company.

Self-hosted installations: For standalone installations, you can brand the pre-login page using the

steps in this section.

ASP-hosted (i.e., non-standalone) installations: Hosted accounts will create their own branding. To
make it available, you must append a branding pointer to the site URL that the hosting center provides.
For example:
http://[your_name].myprintdesk.net/dsf/[asp_number]/companies/[company_branded_URL].pse

where [your_name] is the name you provided to the hosting center and
[asp_number] is the number your received from the hosting center (e.g., “asp10”) and
[company_branded_URL] stands for the name of the company (exactly as you configured it on the
Administration > Companies page).

This branding pointer [company_branded_URL].pse replaces the storefront.aspx page name in the URL
and must have the .pse suffix at the end. Site visitors will then see the company branding on the site
home page when accessing the web site.

NOTE: The branding pointer will be appended to your site URL. For example:
http://www.[name_of_your_printshop.com]/dsf/companies/[company_branded_URL].dsf

where www.[name_of_your_printshop.com] stands for your site’s URL and
[company_branded_URL] stands for the name of the company (exactly as you configured it on the
Administration > Companies page) and
.dsf (don’t forget the dot) is the extension you will set up in the steps below to point the system to the
custom branding for your site’s pre-login homepage.

After creating the branding pointer, you can append it to your site URL (per the above) and distribute it
to customers as a shortcut they can use to access your site.
