Deleting Dynamic Network Variables

You can delete a dynamic network variable from a functional block. When you delete a dynamic
network variable, you can either delete the network variable SmartShape, or you can delete both the
network variable SmartShape and the implementation. You can also delete a dynamic network
variable by deleting the functional block containing it.

To choose the action that occurs when you delete a dynamic network variable or a functional block
containing a dynamic network variable, select the Delete Dynamic NVs when FB Shape is Deleted
and Delete Dynamic NVs when NV Shape is Selected check boxes under Functional Blocks
Options
in the Network Properties: Functional Blocks options category as described in Appendix A.
Select one of the following options:

Yes to remove both the dynamic network variable SmartShape and implementation from the

functional block.

No to remove only the dynamic network variable SmartShape. The implementation remains on

the functional block.

Ask to be prompted each time a dynamic network variable is to be deleted

To access the Network Properties: Functional Blocks options category, click Add-ins, point to
OpenLNS CT, and then click OpenLNS CT Options. Select Functional Blocks from the Options
Category
list.

Creating a Router

A router enables application devices on separate channels to communicate. You can use a single
router to connect two channels or use multiple redundant routers between the same pair of channels.

You can use an MPR-50 Multi-Port Router to connect up to four TP/FT-10 free topology twisted-pair
channels, or to connect one or more TP/FT-10 channels to a TP/XF-1250 high-speed backbone. See
the MPR-50 Multi-Port Router User’s Guide for more information on installing and using the MPR-50
Multi-Port Router.

to integrate multiple native L

networks into one large network that uses a high-speed IP-852

channel as a backbone. IP-852 routers include the SmartServer (with IP-852 routing option), i.LON
100 Internet Server (with IP-852 routing option), and i.LON 600 IP-852 Router.

routers based on the Router 5000 chips or RTR-10

Router Core, and ISO/IEC 14908-1 (ANSI/CEA-709.1 or EN 14908) and ISO/IEC 14908-4 compliant

To add a router to the network, drag a router SmartShape to your OpenLNS CT drawing and then
specify the router name, select the two channels it will connect, and specify the router properties.

The first page of the New Router Wizard includes a Commission Router check box for
commissioning the router. Commissioning associates the physical router on the network with the
router shape. To commission the router after adding it to the OpenLNS drawing, select this check box.
The wizard will prompt you to identify the physical router before adding the router SmartShape to your
network drawing. Otherwise, the wizard will add the router SmartShape to your network drawing after
you have finished defining it.

You can create and commission router in one step. To do this, you enable automatic channel selection,
drag a router SmartShape to your OpenLNS CT drawing near the two channels the router will connect,
and then press the service pin on the router. If automatic channel selection is disabled, the New Router
Wizard opens each time you add a router SmartShape to your OpenLNS CT drawing. See Using
