Using AutoCAD Drawings

You can import AutoCAD drawings into your OpenLNS CT drawing and export your OpenLNS CT
drawing as an AutoCAD drawing.

Importing an AutoCAD Drawing

You can import an AutoCAD drawing. You can do this to use a drawing created by a mechanical
system designer as a background for your OpenLNS CT drawing. This allows you to show the
physical placement of devices within the mechanical system.

To import an AutoCAD drawing into the background of an OpenLNS CT drawing, follow these steps:

1. Open the Insert menu and select CAD Drawing.

2. Select the AutoCAD drawing (.dwg or .dxf extension).

3. In the AutoCAD Drawing Layer Status dialog, specify which layers to convert from the

AutoCAD file. Because OpenLNS CT only supports importing an AutoCAD drawing as a
background, you can choose to convert layers as Displayed Layers only. Layer 0 indicates
unlayered data.

4. Specify the drawing page size and scale for the AutoCAD drawing in the Page Size/Scale dialog.

These settings do not affect the size of OpenLNS CT SmartShapes in the drawing.

5. Open the Edit menu and select Go To Foreground.
