Overview of OpenLNS CT Licensing

The OpenLNS CT software product includes up to two licenses for both OpenLNS Server and
OpenLNS CT. You can install the OpenLNS CT licenses on up to two computers—a primary and a
secondary computer—provided that the following requirements are met: only the OpenLNS CT user
on the primary computer can use the copy of OpenLNS CT on the secondary computer and the
OpenLNS CT software cannot be used on the primary and secondary computers at the same time.

Maintaining OpenLNS CT

The OpenLNS CT Standard and Professional Editions include one-year maintenance for both
OpenLNS and OpenLNS CT during which you can download and install software updates and
upgrades for both OpenLNS CT and OpenLNS Server for free (Visio upgrades are not included).
Your OpenLNS CT software will continue to operate normally if you let your maintenance coverage
lapse, but you will not be able to install any updates or upgrades. When you update or upgrade the
OpenLNS CT software (and your OpenLNS CT computer has an Internet connection), the Echelon
License Manager will automatically verify whether your maintenance coverage is active for the release
you are installing.

• If your maintenance contract is valid for the release you are installing, it will allow you to continue

installing your OpenLNS CT update or upgrade.

• If your maintenance contract has expired, the installer will prompt you as to whether you want to

continue installing the OpenLNS CT update or upgrade. If you continue installing the update or
upgrade, the OpenLNS CT software will not run until you renew your maintenance. See
Renewing OpenLNS CT Annual Maintenance later in this chapter for more information on how to
do this.

If your OpenLNS CT computer did not have an Internet connection when you installed the software
updates or upgrades and you have valid maintenance coverage for OpenLNS Server and OpenLNS CT,
you can activate your licenses for the updated or upgraded OpenLNS and OpenLNS CT software with
the Echelon License Wizard following these steps:

1. Open the Echelon License Wizard. Click Start, click Programs, point to Echelon License

Wizard, and then click License Wizard. The Echelon License Wizard opens.
