Restoring an OpenLNS CT Network

You can restore an OpenLNS CT network from a standard OpenLNS CT backup or a hot backup. If
you restore an OpenLNS CT network containing only a network database or an OpenLNS CT drawing,
OpenLNS CT replaces the current drawing file and/or database with the backup copy (unless the
network does not already exist on a local client). If you restore a backup containing both components,
OpenLNS CT replaces the existing files with the backup copies and then lets you open the OpenLNS
CT drawing to recommission any devices that have changed since the OpenLNS CT network was
backed up.

The following sections describe how to restore a network database backup (standard OpenLNS CT
backup or hot backup), an OpenLNS CT drawing backup, and a full network backup containing both
network database and OpenLNS CT drawing files.

Restoring a Network Database Backup

To restore a network database backup, follow these steps:

1. Open the OpenLNS CT Design Manager. Click Start on the taskbar, point to Programs, point to

Echelon OpenLNS CT, and then select OpenLNS CT.

2. Select the network database to restore from the Database Name list.

3. Click Restore. The OpenLNS CT Restore dialog box opens, unless the currently selected

network does not have any backups saved in the default location. In this case, proceed to step 4 in
which the Select Backup File dialog opens.

4. Select whether to restore a standard OpenLNS CT backup or an OpenLNS hot backup (backup

made while the OpenLNS Server is running).

• If you select the Restore from OpenLNS CT Backup check box, specify the backup you

want to restore. By default, the last file containing both a network database and OpenLNS CT
drawing backup is selected (unless one does not exist). To select a network database backup,
click Browse. The Select Backup File dialog opens. By default, OpenLNS CT backup files
are located in the
C:\Users\Public\Documents\LonWorks\OpenLnsCt\Backup\<network>folder. Select the
OpenLNS CT backup file (.zip extension) of the desired database backup (the database
